The Old Fashioned got its name maybe a century after its birth.Ā Better late than never, that's what we say.Ā This drink was enjoyed far and wide and simply known as 'a cocktail' for decades.Ā Even Mark Twain called it as much.Ā Years went on and the options offered to patrons grew in number and complexity... so what then does one call the original cocktail?Ā An 'Old Fashioned,' of course!Ā
For our island tastes and sensibilities, we've added a slightly tropical twist. Instead of simple syrup, let's enjoy the complexity a splash of LilikoiĀ (some call it 'passion fruit') syrup brings to the party.

Island Old Fashioned
- 2 ozĀ Noble Oak 'Double Oak' Bourbon
- 1/2 oz Hamakua Big Island Lilikoi Syrup
- 2 dashesĀ Ā Aromatic Bitters
Build ingredients in a mixing glass.Ā Stir all ingredients together with ice for approximately 15 seconds.Ā Strain into rocks glass with a large ice cube. Express and garnish with lemon or orange peel.*
